Our Church
St. Luke’s was started in 1940, and held the first worship service on Easter of 1941.  The sanctuary was previously a chapel at Jefferson Barracks and was relocated to our current campus at 2761 Telegraph Rd, St. Louis, MO, 63125.  We’ve gone through a lot of changes in the 81 years we’ve been here, including a beautiful renovation during 2020.  Throughout the years, we’ve been disciples of Jesus Christ seeking to grow closer to Him and bring to the community around us the Good News of Salvation.

Our Staff

Our Pastor – Rev. Dr. Mike Gillen

Rev. Dr. Mike Gillen grew up in the Baptist Church and discerned a call to ministry in high school. He began preaching and serving the local church during college. After seminary, he was ordained in a Virginia Baptist Church in 1994. In 2009, he and his family moved to Missouri and began serving United Methodist Churches. He pastored three churches in the Bowling Green parish for five and a half years before being moved to Cornerstone in O’Fallon, where he served for nine years.
He and his wife, Pam, have been married for 29 years. Pam is a senior compliance consultant at Wells Fargo Advisors. They have two children. Their son, Trevor, graduated in this year from McKendree University, to begin a master’s degree shortly in the fall. Their daughter, Jessica, is a sophomore at Missouri State University.
In addition to spending time with his family, Rev. Dr. Mike Gillen enjoys sports, good food, listening to music and reading. He is a native of Kansas City and loves the Chiefs, but he is also one with the Cardinals! He roots for the Blues and the new STL City Soccer Team.
His philosophy of ministry is all about connections. He will be looking forward to connecting with our staff, volunteer teams and committees, and everyone who worships and serves God here at St. Luke’s.

Our Music Director – Tom Schmidt
Tom brings many years of experience playing the organ and directing choirs, both vocal and hand-bell. Tom brings an enthusiasm of helping people worship God through music. He believes that people can worship God using many different styles of music. This is evident in the worship service we have at St. Luke’s. He provides accompaniment for congregational singing on the organ or piano as well as directing the Chancel Choir or Hand bell Choir. Tom also plays the keyboard to provide a more contemporary sound with our praise band.

Tom has been playing since he was five years old and holds a master’s degree in organ. Tom met his wife, Melissa, here at St. Luke’s and together they have six children.  Tom enjoys working with everybody to help create an environment of worship that promotes a closer relationship with God. He invites anyone who is interested in joining any of the music groups to contact him.
